The 2nd Annual Mississippi Sports and Fitness Expo is set for August 6, 2011 at Smith Wills Stadium on Lakeland Drive in Jackson, MS. We believe that the change in location to the historic stadium that is adjacent to the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame joins an environment advantageous for holding athletic events. Gates open at 2 p.m.
New this year are 8 sporting events:
Ø MS Movement 4 Life “MSM4L” Mr. & Ms Youth/Teen Athlete of the Year
Ø “MSM4L” Mr. & Ms Father Daughter Athletes of the Year
Ø Basketball Skills Showcase
Ø Home Run Derby
Ø MSM4L Football Combine Obstacle Course
Ø Short Game Putting Championship
Ø Children’s Young Sport Playground
Ø The Largest Zumba Class in Mississippi Showcase
MS Sports and Fitness Expo is the largest multi-sporting event in Mississippi. This year's event will feature food and retail vendors showing the latest in healthy food, sports fitness drinks and nutritional supplements. It will also highlight health screening checks, demonstrations, sports medicine and fitness programs, innovative fitness clothing, shoes and training aids, and other run and walk related products and services.
National and local noted personal appearance will be in attendance to teach young athletes and adult competitors techniques.
The Championship Party will feature food demonstrations from Chef Nick Wallace with Hilton Garden Inn, as well as live bands, and food & retail vendors. The Expo will culminate with one of the most extensive fireworks shows in Mississippi.
Proceeds will benefit the Jackson Medical Mall Foundation Childhood Obesity Project.
Sporting Events
MSM4L Mr. & Ms Youth/Teen Athlete of the Year: 4U – 12U will compete in three events: The Pull Up, The Sit Up, and The Push Up competition. Ages 13U – 19U will participate in three events: The Bench Press, The Tire Flip Competition, and The Shuttle Run.
Age groups will be separated in two-year increments with an age deadline of July 1, 2011. Scores will be assigned to each event. The top three in each age division will receive trophies.
MSM4L Mr. & Ms Father Daughter Athletes of the Year: featuring young females with their fathers.
Ages 4U – 12U will compete in three events: The Pull Up, The Sit Up, and The Push Up competition.
Ages 13U – 19U will participate in three events: The Pull Up, The Sit Up, and the Shuttle Run.
Age groups will be separated in two-year increments with an age deadline of July 1, 2011. Scores will be assigned to each event. The top three in each age division will receive trophies.
Home Run Derby 2011: featuring some of the top young hitters ages 13U – 19U. The age groups will be separated by two years.
An award will be given in each category to the hitter who logs the longest home run and the most home runs based on pitches.
MSM4L Football Combines: a football obstacle course on the stadium turf for 8U-19U. Team 82 will clock your 40-yard dash, test your vertical jump, test your broad jump, teach you how to run through a shuttle, and have Passing and Catching Competitions.
Short Game Putting Championships: $500 in prizes will be given away during this event that will feature competitions for girls and boys ages 13U-19U and adults. The age groups will be separated in two-year increments with an age deadline of July 1, 2011.
Basketball Skills Showcase: featuring some of the greatest teen female and male shooters in our area. The "Skills Challenge" will feature a Three Point Shooting Contest and a Slam Dunk Contest. Female athletes will use 9” goals. Ages 13U-19U can participate.
The Children’s Young Sport Playground: featuring the largest children’s interactive play area in Mississippi, with more than ten interactive blowups, clowns, face painting, and a youth basketball area and much more. Children ages’ 6U can enter the Children’s Young Sport area for free with a gate entry band on and stay as long as they like.
The Largest Zumba Show in Mississippi Showcase is coming back to Mississippi Sports and Fitness Expo. Zumba has been one of the fastest growing forms of exercise in the country. Join our Zumba experience as we exercise, entertain and educate enthusiasts in this new fun Dance sport.
****Please note: Parents ID will be required for the Youth divisions in all sporting events. ID will be required for the Teen Division.

$10 for ages 7 and older
